Cell published a study revealing the largest dataset of active DNA transposon vectors to date, which may bring disruptive innovative tools!

On June 5, 2024, the research group led by Zhang Yong and Wang Haoyi from the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, published a paper titled "Heterologous survey of 130 DNA transposons in human cells highlights their functional divergence and expands the genome engineering toolbox" in the journal Cell. The study identified 40 novel DNA transposons with transposition activity in human cells and systematically analyzed the factors related to the activity and evolutionary dynamics of these DNA transposons. These transposons, each with distinct functional characteristics, expand the related genome engineering toolbox. Notably, the transposon Mariner2_AG (MAG) demonstrated high activity in CAR-T immunotherapy experiments, indicating its potential clinical application value.

The Renyuan Xinsheng team, a subsidiary of Life Biosciences, is honoured to have the opportunity to participate in part of the preliminary work of the study and assist in completing some plasmid cloning and cell line validation experiments.
